Brush plate support for needling a nonwoven web

An apparatus for needling a web comprises a brushlike web support 1 consisting of individual brush plates desired to substantially eliminate an influence of the joints between the brush plates on the surface pattern of the needled nonwoven web. The bristle tufts 4 of those rows of tufts 5a and 6a which extend adjacent to and along the joints 7 between the brush plates 2 are carried individually or in groups in alternation by the two brush plates 2 which are disposed on opposite sides of the joint 7.
