Vehicle security apparatus comprises a one way valve 20 located in the fuel supply pipe 14, a key pad 22 mounted on the dashboard and operably connected to the valve 20 such that after the vehicle's engine has been turned off the valve 20 will automatically close and will not re-open until a predetermined code has been entered on the pad 22. The key pad 22 may be replaced by a floor mounted key operated lock or by a hand held remote control device A heat sensor 24 is located on the engine and is operably connected to the valve 20 to cause the same to close upon detection of a predetermined raised temperature. The valve 20 incorporates an impact sensor which automatically closes the valve 20 upon detection of an impact above a predetermined force.
