ATM signifies a method of broad-band communication (Asynchronous Transfer Mode). The control unit (35) for the central store of an ATM node has principally three addressable write/read stores (41, 43, 45), and input logic (48), bus and control logic (50) and a monitoring circuit (71) to monitor and initialise said units. All the units are switched by a sequencer (38). The storage points of the first (41) and the second store (43) correspond in number to the lines leaving the central store and are individually allocated thereto. There may also be a single additional store. The stoarage points of the third store (45) correspond individually to the storage blocks of the central store. The three read/write stores (41, 43, 45) together have all the information on the occupation of the central store. They operate in the linked list mode. |
