In a process for producing synthetic gallstones from cholesterol monohydrates, anhydrous fused cholesterol is cooled and the crystallized product is converted to cholesterol monohydrate by treatment with water. The cholesterol monohydrate stones obtained have a radiating structure or a shell structure and are outstandingly suited for simulating the mechanical behaviour of natural gallstones in lithotritors. |
