489,793. Making pressure-sensitive capsules. NUTSFORD, A. March 16, 1937, No. 7677. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Stamping.-The flexible diaphragm 10 of a pressure-sensitive capsule 10-15, Fig. 4, for indicating controlling or recording mechanism is prevented from subsequent deformation by stamping it to corrugated form by using its own pre-formed thick corrugated back 15 as a die under a punch 17, the diaphragm 10 then being secured at its edge to its back 15, e.g. by simultaneously cupping the plate to form a flange thereon which may also be grooved and then soldering the flange to the back 15. In pre-forming the back 15 it is also drilled &c. to provide an entrance channel 19 for fluid pressure and holes 20 to allow of fixing the fittings of the fluid pipe thereto. A rubber block 14 provides a backing for the diaphragm during stamping. The Provisional Specification states that the diaphragm may be interlocked to its back 15 during stamping to shape. A diaphragm may be attached to each side of the thick part 15 for use either as a single capsule of increased capacity or instead of two separate capsules when provided with independent pressure fluid channels.
|
