A steam generator may be a component of a combustion system in which the production of flue gas cannot be interrupted on short notice, a component of a low-temperature refuse incineration plant, or a component of a grate-fired incineration system, for instance. The steam generator includes a primary side, a secondary side, and first and second redundant cooling tube systems on the secondary side for the removal of heat. A method for the removal of heat from a steam generator, such as a component of a low-temperature refuse incineration plant, having a primary side and a secondary side, includes moving a coolant through at least first and second redundant cooling tube systems on the secondary side of the steam generator for the removal of heat.
