OF THE TECHNICAL CONTENT OF THE INVENTION A hand-held warning sign comprises a display panel mounted on a stem forming a handle so that the sign can be held in the air with the display panel clearly visible to oncoming traffic from both directions, at least one reflective zone on said display panel, a plurality of super-radiant lightemitting diodes mounted on the display panel in said reflective zone(s), a control circuit for flashing said super-radiant light-emitting diodes, and an orientationsensitive switch for activating the control circuit when the warning sign is held in the vertical orientation.
