The invention relates to a therapeutic retention device for the treatment, in man, of a limb affected by oedematous swelling. This device comprises a thickness of foam all in one piece, cut out or pre-shaped in order to form an element for immobilising the hand and foot (MN), a foldable tightening element for the forearm or the leg (AV, RL) and a windable tightening element for the arm or the thigh (BR). Fastening means, in particular of the Velcro type, are associated with these elements in order to immobilise them on those parts of the limb in question. The device according to the invention combines a satisfactory efficacy of treatment with considerable ease and rapidity of positioning. <IMAGE>
