The invention relates to a driving pulley of an automatic speed-change transmission comprising two coaxial cheeks (1, 2) the frustoconical flanks (3, 4) of which face one another in order to form a V-shaped groove (5) into which is passed a belt (6) of trapezoidal cross-section (V belt), one of the cheeks (1) termed stationary cheek, being secured to a drive shaft (9) and the other cheek (2), termed movable cheek, being guided in terms of rotation about the axis of the pulley and being capable of sliding axially under the action of a plurality of fly weights (17) located about the axis of the pulley and rotationally driven about this axis, the said flyweights (17) having, at a first end, a surface which bears on an incline (15) of the movable flange (2) and, at the other end, a surface which bears on the internal surface of a concave reaction cap (14) secured to the drive shaft (9), it being possible for each flyweight (17) to slide radially under the effect of centrifugal forces. It is characterised in that each flyweight (17) is provided with elastic means (19, 21) which exert a radial force on it and which hold it pressed against the surface of the incline (15) of the movable cheek (2) and against the internal surface of the reaction cap (14), these means acting only when the rotational speed of the pulley is zero or low. <IMAGE>
