<p>PURPOSE:To surely detect the necessity of assistance to a motor without depending on a steering angle in order to save electric power by limiting a driving current when it is detected that the intensity of driving current exceeds a prescribed limit value and moreover a steering speed of a steering system becomes zero. CONSTITUTION:In a controller for electric, power steering system, actual steering torque Td is compared with preset, target steering torque Tt, and, corresponding to this comparison deviation, driving current Im of a motor 61 connected to a steering system 60 is controlled so that assisting torque Tm corresponding to the steering torque Td of the steering torque 60 is outputted. In other words, when Td>Tt, or when the actual torque is greater than the target torque, the motor torque of the motor 61 is made greater, while, when Td<Tt, the motor torque is made smaller, so that the actual steering torque is controlled or adjusted to approach the target torque. In this case, a driving current limiting means 63 is provided, which limits the value of the driving current Im when the driving current Im exceeds a prescribed limit value and moreover a steering speed thetaH of the steering system 60 becomes zero.</p> |
