A selector device for a change speed gearing of an automotive vehicle has a selector lever which, for the preselection of automatic stages, can be swivelled in a first selection slot and can be switched over via a transverse slot into a second selection slot, in which the gears can be selected manually. Both end positions of the switchover movement can be locked in by means of a spring latching mechanism comprising a latching lever provided with a slotted latching link, a tension spring and a selector-lever latching element engaging in the slotted latching link.
