Machines for the production of bags from thermoplastic tubing (or half-tubing) have a control system with traction rollers for the plastic sheeting driven (directly or indirectly) by one motor, and welding jaws for the sheeting which are driven by another motor; other stages such as stamping out, perforating, depositing etc. also have their drives. One central computer controls the motors in such a way that the welding jaw motor is fed with energy. The motor for the traction rollers still retain energy for the purpose. When the rollers motor has stopped it is started again before the motor for the welding jaws has come to a halt.
