PURPOSE: To facilitate insertion into the pharynx and eliminate any possibility of injuring a patient by providing two fiber optic bundles which are bent at their flat parts so as to pass through the tongue of a patient and connected to a light source for lighting the pharynx of the patient and an ocular-mirror, respectively, and a two-valve element. CONSTITUTION: A device is inserted through the mouth of a patient and lit by a light source 32, and an operator observes the pharynx region of the patient through an ocular mirror 35. Angled connection between a handle 10 and a flat part 11 drastically facilitates the insertion and handling of the flat part, in the mouth and the pharynx of the patient. It also allows the hands of the operator to place out of the row of the oral cavity, permits the appliances to move in the oral cavity, and improves the ability of the operator so as to observe what is going. When the end 18 of the pharynx scope is near the pharynx, an endotracheal tube is pushed through an opening formed by partial openings 25, 47 so as to easily pass through a path formed by positional relation between the flat part 11 and a two-valve element 12.
