The oven housing encloses the oven space (4) containing the radiation heating elements (5), formed in two relatively displaced halves (3). The latter abut one another in a separation plane (7) passing through the vertical centre of the oven space their abutting surfaces haivng cooperating semi-cylindrical recesses (8a) for locating the ends of the tensile test sample. Both oven housing halves (3) are mirror symmetrical relativee to the separation plane. The inner walls of the oven space (4) may be mirrored for heat reflection. ADVANTAGE - Compact oven allowing rapid temp. variations of tensile test sample.
