The clamp has a sheet metal clamp frame (1) with a clamping screw (4) acting on a pivoted clamp block (7), rotating parallel to the reception socket (5) for the stripped conductor lead (6). The clamp block (7) is displaced into the closed position under control of the clamping screw (4) against a return spring bias. The latter is provided by a spring (12) which is integral with the clamp frame (1). Pref. the clamp block (7) comprises a lever arm acted on by the clamp screw (4) at one side of its pivot axis (8) and by the return spring (12) at the opposite side of the pivot axis(8).
