Polyurethane foam mouldings for painting - produce surfaces free from defects if coated with resin which cures in presence of hoisting and only then given paint coating

A plastic moulding made of high density foam, and RRIM polyurethane in particular, is suitable for painting; before being painted however the moulding is coated with a material which cures in the presence of moisture. A coating which cures in the presence of moisture normally sets hard in 3-4 hrs. at room temp.; it forms a sealed coat which allows the product to be handled normally and even to be repainted and oven-cured. Consequently any air entrapped in the basic moulding is enclosed by the impervious coating. It is not necessary to wait 8-10 days before coating. The coating need not be applied to the whole surface but merely to the areas where the surface has impressions, recesses, etc.. If the final prod. is damaged in its surface it can be abraded and coated again with the same moisture-curing material. ADVANTAGE - The mouldings can be painted without showing the surface defects which normally arise such as pores, pits, blisters etc.. (Dwg.0/0)
