PURPOSE:To process a discrete 4-channel stereo signal with excellent compatibility and to record audio information properly. CONSTITUTION:Input terminals TL, TR, TC and TS are connected to a matrix encoder 1 implementing 4-channel - 2-channel encoding. The matrix encoder 1 is provided with attenuators 11, 14 attenuating an input signal to the input terminals TC, TS respectively, adders 12, 13 adding an output signal of the attenuator 11 to the input signal at the input terminals TL, TR respectively, phase shifters 15,16 shifting the phase of the outputs of the attenuator 14 by +90 deg. and -90 deg. and adders 17, 18 adding outputs of the phase shifters 15, 16 to the outputs of the adders 12, 13 respectively. Encode outputs LT, RT of the matrix encoder 1 are used for decode reproduction and recording. |
