PURPOSE:To obtain a hydrogen ion detection element showing stable potential characteristics by constituting the same of a hydrogen ion electrode wherein an ion responsive film is formed to the surface of a glassy carbon substrate and a reference electrode. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen ion concn. detection element is constituted by combining a hydrogen ion electrode wherein the surface of a glassy carbon substrate 1 is coated with an ion responsive film 2 consisting of an ion responsive substance and a binder (matrix) with a reference electrode 4. By the use of glassy carbon as the substrate material of the electrode, the hydrogen ion electrode showing stable characteristics is obtained. This hydrogen ion concn. detection element can display the concn. of hydrogen ion over a wide range in a voltage form and is simple to handle and has a high response speed and can continuously measure the concn. of a hydrogen ion in the state immersed in a liquid to be measured and the ion responsive film is chemically extremely stable and can be used over a long period of time. Further, by mounting this hydrogen ion concn. detection element on a lead storage battery, the concn. of sulfuric acid being an electrolyte is detected and the charge and discharge state of the lead storage battery can always be known. |
