PURPOSE:To follow up a front car safely and smoothly by maintaining the speed of own car on the basis of speed variation frequency in the preceding car, and keeping a desired car-to-car distance. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of the status of a preceding car overtaken with a sensor 1, a distance between his own car and the preceding car and its speed are detected by a front car detecting part 2. The distance and speed detected by this front car detecting part 2 are inputted into a speed variation frequency evaluator 3 and a speed controller 4, while the speed variation frequency evaluator 3 evaluates a speed variation of the preceding car on the basis of these inputted values, feeding the evaluated value to the speed controller 4. In succession, the speed controller 4 feeds a throttle control signal to a throttle valve 6 on the basis of the distance and the speed detected by the front car detecting part 2 and the speed variation in the preceding car evaluated by the speed variation frequency evaluator 3, and also feeds a brake control signal to a braking part 9 installed in a wheel 7, thus the car-to-car distance with a wheel 7 is optimally maintained. |
