Two separate knitted items, identical, at least as regards their upper zone, and each of which fits on one leg, except for their tubular upper edge, from a pair of tights. The upper edge acts as a waistband and is sufficiently elastic to pass over the hips. When folded symmetrically, the section below the waistband has the outline of a trapezium, the bottom edge which is ladderproof and joins the stocking section. One side of the trapezium is at right angles to the upper and lower edges, whilst the other side runs obliquely and is cut open during knitting. The garment meets the requirements of the large number of women who prefer stockings for a variety of reasons. A ladder is one leg does not make the garment unusable, and on the other hand suspenders are not necessary to prevent the corkscrewing of the legs.
|
