A new paper and its application as facing for a sheet of plaster. he facing for a sheet of plaster includes a base paper made up of at least 15% of glass fibres, the remainder being cellulose fibres, to make up 100%, the paper being impregnated with a layer of a stiffening agent. The facing contains not more than 105 g/m<2> of combustible organic matter. More particularly it includes between 15 and 25 parts of chopped glass fibres, between 50 and 90 parts of cellulose and between 15 and 30 parts of stiffening agent. The sheet of plaster which can comprise such a facing includes, in % by weight relative to the weight of the plaster, from 0.4 to 1% of setting accelerator, from 0 to 0.2% of fluidifiers and from 0.02 to 0.1% of surfactants. The setting accelerator consists of finely divided gypsum with a mean diameter of 5 to 10 micrometres, coated with 1 to 5% of surface-active agents. The fluidifiers are chosen from ammonium lignosulphonate and sodium naphthalenesulphonate/formaldehyde or melamine/formaldehyde condensates. The surfactants are sodium lauryl ether sulphates. Application to a sheet of plaster meeting the Mo standard. <IMAGE>
