Data transmission line interface device characterized in that it includes a dual use connector (19), capable of connecting a coaxial cable or a pair of twisted conductors constituting the transmission line (2) to two alternatively transmitting and receiving stations of a facility. Said connector is mounted in a circuit (18), the components and connections of which are arranged so that, according to the type of line receiving or transmitting the digital data between stations, the impedance characteristic of the device input or output always matches that of the line and so that, at the same time, the transmission mode and the emission level of the signals corresponding to said data, are determined and adjusted according to the type of line. The device matches the impedance of a data supplying or receiving circuit to that of the line, which varies according to the type of said line from approximately 93 ohms to 150 ohms in configurations of the type IBM3270 or Ics 1.
