The seat framework (4) of this chair, on the one hand has, seen from the side, the shape of a half-eggshell, the backrest part of which comprises uprights (8b) in which the ends of the uprights of the framework of the backrest (5) are fitted, and whose seat part comprises longitudinal seat members (8a) ending in a part (8c) which is raised upwards and is articulated onto the base about a horizontal transverse spindle (11), and, on the other hand, is integral with high removable flanks (6) extending vertically up to the backrest and closing the half-shell laterally, and furthermore carries, articulated to its end, a leg rest (34) with a foot rest (60) and, finally, is combined with means (14-15-16-50-52) allowing it to be pivoted with locking in each intermediate position, between an access position, in which the backrest part is substantially vertical and a maximally reclined position in which this part is close to the horizontal. <IMAGE>
