<p>An intravenous cannula connector (10) for connection of a cannula to a syringe or intravenous drip feed has a central portion (14) with a fluid passage therethrough and is joined by a pair of solid arm portions (15, 16) to a pair of lateral wings (17, 18) for fixation of the connector (10) and intravenous cannula (19) to the skin of a patient by a single piece of contact adhesive tape (23). The central portion (14) steps down into a spigot portion (20a) onto which the socket end (21) of the cannula (19) is sleeved after the cannula (19) has been intravenously inserted into a vein of the patient. The wings (17, 18) sit laterally and forward relative to the central portion (14) to correspond with the socket end (21) of the cannula (19). Structure may be provided on the inside (60) of the wings (17, 18) to engage the cannula (19) when coupled to the connector (10) to reduce the likelihood of disconnection of the cannula (19). The connector (10), can be fixed non-detachably to the lower end of an intravenous giving set or to any one of several syringe or intravenous attachments either directly or via length of flexible tubing.</p> |
