The automatic insertion method & apparatus precisely processes the CAD data, and shortens the process time so that it can enhance the reliability of the assembled product. The insertion apparatus comprises an operation part (51) receiving the CAD data from a CAD system (8) via an I/O interface (9), and exchanging data with a VME bus via an MVME controller (10), a disk interface (11) and a disk controller (12); a data processor (52) processing the data from a VME bus (13) by controlling an MVME DRAM; a general data processor storing the CAD data into a graphic RAM (17), and storing general data into a local RAM (22) via a local bus (24); a general data transfer part (54) transffering the general data to the VME bus (13).
