The appts. comprise a probe (26) connected to an arm (25) mounted on an endless screw (23) allowing the probe to be driven into the ground. Electrodes (56) with a diameter larger than the probe are carried on the probe (26) by support arms (27). The probes inject current into the sediment allowing micro-conductivity measurements to be carried out. Liquid injected through the probe disturbs the sediments for collection and examination at the surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Sampling and micro-conductivity measurement of sedimentary material without need for drilling preliminary borehole. Can also be used in pollution studies, sedimentation and geo-studies of surface formations.
