The crimping tool is mounted on a press and is used to fix contact elements to the ends of electrical wires. The contact elements are produced as pressings in continuous strip form (17). Each element has a contact section (17a), clamping section (17b) and a lead section (16b). The crimping tool has a main element with a profiled section (3) that bends the material around the exposed wire. A second tool (5) retains the wire. A third tool follows in action to separate the contact from the main strip at a point. The tool has a centre hole (11) to allow removal of the contact on the return stroke. ADVANTAGE - Simplifies crimping operation.
