The printing press with a drum incorporates a rocking shaft drive. The drum can be set for printing on one or both sides,using sheet-holders on shafts working together. The shaft (1) is driven by first and second cam-operated gear trains (3.1-6.1,0.1; 3.2,5.2,12,9.2) working in opposite directions. The roller-ended lever (5.2) of the second train can have a lever fixed to it and which is coupled by a spring (12) to the gear sector (6.2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Printing press drive system avoids backlash between gear teeth on reversal of direction.
