The electronic compass includes a magnetic field measuring system and is equipped to be used in two operational modes: either in the field or in a vehicle as a car compass. When used in a vehicle, it is attached by a holder and interference fields from the vehicle are compensated by an electronic circuit. In both modes of operation, the same display is used. The magnetic field measuring system comprises three probes for measurements in orthogonal directions. Different measuring systems may be used for the two modes of operation. Pref. inclination compensation is provided to compensate for the position of the vehicle. USE/ADVANTAGE - In motorcar, ship, aeroplane, bicycle, sailing boat, paraglider etc. Detects and compensates for inclination and vertical geomagnetic field components.
