The contact has a surface layer (7) with a support layer (6) contg. a palladium alloy with a thickness in the range between 0.05 and 0.5 microns. The support layer is galvanically deposited and the surface layer together with the support layer have a thickness in the range between 0.1 and 1 microns, pref. less than 0.5 microns. The support layer comprises a palladium silver alloy in which the silver content is in the range between 20 and 70 %wt. and the palladium content is in the range between 30 and 80 %wt.. Alternatively, the support layer can be a palladium-nickel alloy or a palladium-tin alloy. USE/ADVANTAGE - Electrical contact body resistant to corrosion and wear. Uses less Gold by use of Palladium and Silver for support layer.
