The encoder has an annular metal carrier (21) of L-shaped cross-section with a flat radial section and an axial section and a multipole thermoplastic ring (22) mounted on the metal carrier. The one-piece thermoplastic ring is enriched with ferrite and consists of a radial and an axial section. The radial section (22a) is injection moulded onto the flat radial section (21a) of the carrier and the axial holding section (22c) is injection moulded around the axial carrier section (21b) which has anchorage points (21d) for the ring material. The anchorage points ensure a solid connection between the thermoplastic ring and the metal carrier. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for vehicle antilock braking system. Compact and can be manufactured using conventional materials.
