In a process for dewatered clarification sludge supply into a reactor (1) for thermal disposal, the dewatered sludge (with less than 85% water content) is subjected, after delivery from a pump (4) and before atomisation within the reactor (1), to a temp.-pressure treatment at above 150 deg.C and at or above the water vapour satn. pressure at the treatment temp. Pref. the dewatered sludge has a dry matter content of 30-35%. The temp.-pressure treatment is carried out at 200-250 deg.C. The requisite pressure for the treatment is derived from the high pressure prevailing in the reactor. ADVANTAGE - The process allows mechanically dewatered clarification sludge with 30-35% solids content to be fed to the reactor by conventional equipment. In one appts., part of the feed line, connecting the slurry pump (4) to the reactor (1), is externally heated and the temp.-pressure treatment is effected during passage through this heated section. In a second appts. the feed line is interrupted at a point connected to a heated pressure vessel.
