Monitoring granular behaviour of bulk material - using two channels of differing through-flow cross=section and providing clearly visible flow width

The method involves passing the bulk material through two sequential channels (3,4) which are surrounded by a casing (2). The first channel (3) has a larger through-flow cross-section than the second channel (4). The second channel may be variable in the direction transverse to the vertical flow direction of the bulk material, so that the velocity profile is constantly variable over the width. The first channel pref. has a rectangular cross-section at the outlet so that the width of the flowing material is clearly visible or measurable. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for powders or granulates, esp. in plastics industry. Allows continuous, in-line measurement for control of processes.
