摘要 The timing mechanism has centrifugal weights moved in opposition to return springs and sliding along smooth concave curved paths. They cause relative rotation between the driving and fuel-pump shafts.Damping is by a purely mechanical spring (1) acting in the axial direction of the timing mechanism (2). This delays the relative rotation between the driving (3) and pump (6) shafts. Where there is a screw acting via a washer so as to clap a driven shaft onto that of the fuel pump, the washer having a stop flange and a centring spigot, the spring system can consist of a plate spring (1) bearing against the washer (6) and the driving shaft. ADVANTAGE - Protects against effect of shock-loads from pump without affecting speed of timing adjustment.
