Appts. for mixing and treating organic special waste, in paste or liq. form and opt. contained in metal or plastics casks, has (a) a delivery container (1), to which is connected the outlet of a supply container for additive (sawdust or similar finely divided bindable or absorbent material); (b) a crusher (6) for crushing or shredding the casks, supplied with the premixed contents of the delivery container and opt. connected to the supply container for supply (23) of additive; (c) a screw conveyor and mixer (9), following the crusher (6), for further mixing and homogenisation of the material which is then delivered onto a transport screen base (12); (d) a conveyor (13), below the screen (12), for supplying screened fine material to a collection container; and (e) at the end of the screen (12), a magnetic separator (19) for separating out ferromagnetic cask parts and a conveyor (18) for discharging coarse material. USE/ADVANTAGE - For processing special waste such as lacquer and paint wastes, printing ink residues, glues and adhesives, putties and fillers, grease and oil contg. sludges and functional media. Special waste is more efficiently and completely conditioned either for final storage or esp. for burning as additional fuel in high temp. combustion units. The appts. is simple to operate, is compact, may be mobile and can be located at sites of heavy demand.
