A protection course for sealing layers in landfills is to be capable of being produced quickly and is to guarantee reliable protection even on slopes. To this end, a protection element (1, 15, 21, 33) is proposed according to the invention. The protection element (1, 15, 21, 33) is designed as a flat container of essentially uniform height which contains a filling of sand (10, 36) or sand-like bulk material and extends in such a way that a large proportion of it can be laid in a continuous bond to form a protection course. <IMAGE> |
