An apparatus for washing workshop articles, comprising a housing 21; a chamber 22 disposed in the housing and having an upper feed-in and feed-out zone A and rinse and bath zones B,C for the treatment of the article; a lift device 1, 3 connected with the said chamber; a fixture 23 for the workshop article, which fixture is disposed in the said chamber and is supported and controlled by the lift device so as to be moved up and down between the said zones. According to the invention, the fixture 23 is rotatable and has upper and lower mounting plates 6, 7, one of which is movable for the clamping and release of the article or of a perforated cage D containing the article, the mounting plates of the fixture 23 supporting exchangeable fixture elements 8, 9 having sides which are matched to the contour of opposing surfaces of the article or of the cage D.
