ROBUST GLASSES DETECTION USING VARIABLE MASK AND ANISOTROPIC SMOOTHING

A robust glasses detection using a variable mask and anisotropic smoothing is provided to realize a reliable face recognition system by using an anisotropic smoothing method considering that reflecting coefficients of glasses and a face are different. An image is made by multiplication of a lighting part and a reflecting part. An anisotropic smoothing method is used considering that reflecting coefficients of glasses and a face are different. A reflection part is obtained from an input face image through the anisotropic smoothing method. A reflection part of the glasses is detected from a reflection part of the face by using the obtained reflection part. The detected reflection part is binarized. It is determined whether glasses exist by using the number of binarized glasses pixels.
