The method involves reading and/or loading information in a control-and/or regulation device (50) by a device description file (54). The loaded information is analyzed at a program code unit (52) that is operated by the control-and/or regulation device. The program code unit is detected, interpreted and/or executed. A predefined functionality and/or configuration is processed by the control-and/or regulation device, which is adjusted and/or configured. The information is stored in a data storage of the control-and/or regulation device. An independent claim is also included for a system for mounting a control-and/or regulation device e.g. input/output unit and/or field device.
