[Class 52 (ii)] Mechanism for adjusting the height or angle of tilt of vehicle seats comprises a screwthreaded spindle 15 connected to the seat structure or to a supporting structure, a casing 1, 2 connected to the other structure, a driven gear 16 adapted on rotation to cause longitudinal movement of the spindle 15, and a helically toothed driving gear 17 meshing with the first gear and rotated by an operating member 23. The gears are totally enclosed in the casing, which is preferably in two parts and provides bearings for the spindle and gears. The gears may be of helically toothed type or of worm- and-wheel type. The invention may be applied to seats of the kind described in Specifications 409,744 and 467,645. |
