A handoff execution method in a mobile communications system is provided to reduce delay time and improve the transmission quality of multimedia data. Transition speed of a mobile terminal is measured(100). The size of a data packet generated in an application layer is measured(200). The quality toward data transmission channel of the mobile terminal is measured(300). The maximum handoff delay time is computed(400). The point of time when hand-off is generated is predicted(500).
