A method of controlling transmission power in a wireless communication system is provided to stably control transmission power for time slot when updating TA or previous power, or assigning time slot for uplink transmission by a mobile station. A packet channel request message is transmitted to a network by a mobile station(S110). The network transmits the packet uplink assignment message as a response to the packet channel request message(S120).
