A data transmission method in a DLNA environment and an apparatus and system thereof are provided to perform the file reproduction and transmission through the proper modification of a file regardless of DLNA guide-line support. A DMC(Digital Media Controller)(200) performs the reproduction control of a DMR(Digital Media Renderer)(300). The DMC receives a contents list which a DMS(Digital Media Server)(100) generates. The contents list includes a virtual file list which does not support a DLNA(Digital Living Network Alliance) guide line. The DMC controls so that the DMS can transmit specific contents selected through the control signal transmission between the DMS and DMR to the DMR. The DMR reproduces the contents which a DMP(Digital Media Player)(400) or DMC selects.
