[Class 52 (ii)] A convertible bed couch comprises a backsupporting frame 15 having a back frame 18 hinged thereto so as to swing forwardly and downwardly from a vertical to a horizontal position, and thereby, through links 40 pivoted to the back frame and a seat-supporting frame 28 to cause the seat-supporting frame to move horizontally from a normal position overlying the back-supporting frame as in Fig. 1, to a position alongside the latter frame as in Fig. 3. The seat-supporting frame may include a linkage 30 and 31, and a cam 43 on a link 40 may actuate bar 31 to raise the level of the seat when the back is lowered. A stop bar 50 maintains the seat in its raised position, but this bar is knocked out of position by a projection on link 40 when the back is raised. The link 40 may be made of two detachable parts. |
