<PICT:0497918/III/1> In treating wood or other fibrous material by impregnation with synthetic resinous material, the articles from the impregnating vessel are immersed in a jacketed tank 11 of methyl alcohol heated by a steam coil 12 and moved about until surplus resin is removed. They are then transferred to a jacketed tank 10 containing dipentene which is also heated by a steam coil 12. The tanks 10, 11 are connected to storage tanks 19, 22 from which they are replenished. When the resin content of the methyl alcohol is sufficiently high, part of the resin solution is drawn, by vacuum, into a jacketed vessel 25 where the alcohol is evaporated and recovered by condensers 38, 40 and passed to a receptacle 39 leading to the stage tank 22; the tank 11 being replenished from the storage tank 22.
