A method for remotely controlling a portable terminal and a system thereof are provided to offer differentiated services to clients by remotely controlling the screen or audio setting status of the portable terminal. According to a remote control request inputted from a client, a processing module(106) of a remote control module(102) generates remote control request information and then dividedly contents according to a remote control allowance notification from a service server(122). When contents for remote control is downloaded from the service server, the processing module sets a screen, bell sound or effect sound according to the screen or audio setting information included in the contents for remote control.
