PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an alkaline dry cell capable of improving effectively battery performance by effectively using a space in a case. SOLUTION: The alkaline dry cell is manufactured by (a) a step to form a positive electrode mixture 2 of hollow cylindrical type, (b) a step in which the positive electrode mixture 2 is inserted in a case of a bottomed cylinder type which has a recess 11a in the bottom central part and in which a protrusion projecting to the outside corresponding to the recess 11a forms a positive electrode terminal portion 11, and the outer circumference face is adhered closely to the inner circumference of the case 1, (c) a step in which an electrolytic solution is filled into the hollow part of the positive electrode mixture 2 and the electrolytic solution is impregnated into the positive electrode mixture 2, and the electrolytic solution is introduced into the recess 11a, and (d) a step in which a gelatinous negative electrode 3 is filled into the hollow part of the positive electrode mixture 2 through a separator 4. Here in the above step (c), the electrolytic solution is filled for an amount sufficient to be impregnated into the positive electrode mixture 2, and furthermore, so as to remain capable of filling the recess 11a of≥1/2 of its volume.
