PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound recognition control method allowing a mobile terminal to be used even if the housing of the mobile terminal is closed, and allowing the mobile terminal to be comfortably used even if the mobile terminal is stored in an article distant from a human body such as a bag; and a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: A cellular phone 10 wirelessly carries out communication with a headset 20, and starts a sound recognition part 106 in response to a sound recognition start request from the headset 20. When a housing is opened, a function designated, out of four functions of 'voice dialing', 'voice retrieval', 'voice setting' and 'camera operation', by the headset 20 is selected, the sound recognition part 106 is controlled by using a dictionary 108 storing data for achieving the selected function, and, when the housing is closed, the 'voice dialing' function is selected, and the sound recognition part 106 is controlled by using a dictionary 107 storing data for achieving the 'voice dialing' function.
