PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reading device for preventing the abrasion of the regulation part of a reading unit even when the reading unit moves between a reading glass and an original stand glass in simple configurations. SOLUTION: A reading unit 23 includes a regulation part 34 interposed between each glass 22 and 31 and the reading unit 23. This regulation part 34 constantly fixes a separation distance between the reading unit 23 and each glass 22 and 31, and an original on each glass 22 and 31 is accurately read by the CIS 24 of the reading unit 23. This regulation part 34 is brought into contact with a smooth contact 32a of a light transmission plate 32 in a sliding way so that it is possible to prevent the abrasion of the regulation part 34, and to prevent the fluctuation of the separation distance between the reading unit 23 and each glass 22 and 31 because of the abrasion of the regulation part 34.
