PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arithmetic processing unit for extending an instruction with fixed length. SOLUTION: This arithmetic processing unit has an XAR register 1 in which an instruction extension information is stored. An execution arithmetic unit 5 executes an instruction following an instruction to set information in the XAR register 1 based on the instruction extension information in the XAR register 1.
